Walker Hungarian Horses

H. Zsofia (1997 gray mare, 15-2 h, by H. Gyemant out of H. Monda; breeder: Cooksley Ranch)

Zsofi is now a proven broodmare (mother of Kate, above).  She is an experienced mountain trail horse, and has competed successfully at Training and First level dressage; we did some second level in '05, and since then I haven't showed her, preferring to spend my money on clinics. She has quite good flying changes and piaffe and is schooling the extensions, passage, and pirouettes.  She has been well started over fences.  She is sensible, sensitive, kind and cheerful. Oh, and as of summer 2008, she is also broke to drive. $25,000

H. Hala (2000 chestnut mare, 16 h, by H. Gyemant out of H. Bajos 2; breeder: Cooksley Ranch)

Hala was started in May 2004, and did very well at training level in 2005. In '07 I showed her, once, at first level and she won her class. She has lovely gaits for dressage, and has taken to trail riding like she had been born in the mountains. She is even quieter and more athletic than Zsofi, and has been lightly started over fences. $18,000

HS Comrade (2004 gray gelding)

"Arthur" is a Hungarian gelding, out of H. Monda (making him Zsofi's half-brother) by HS So Rare (a leading sire of dressage horses & hunters in Washington).

I have only had him since June '09, and really just got him going under saddle then, so he is still very green and needs an experienced rider. He is gray, about 15-1, with gorgeous movement and lovely gaits - I'm looking forward to competing him training level in 2010. $8000 (will probably go up next year)

Mountaincrest Gigi ("Pippi"), 2004 Welsh section B pony mare

I got Pippi in the spring of 2008 as my "in case I have grandchildren" pony, and immediately thereafter, found out our first grandchild was on the way. Pippi is broke to ride, but not for a total beginner child. She is much like my other mares in temperment - brave, smart, and nice to work with. She is a shade long in the back, but otherwise really cute, and a good mover who can keep up with "the big girls" when we take her on trail rides. She has jumped up to three feet under saddle, and free-jumped four feet (video on YouTube). She's done three schooling shows, competing at two feet. I'm beginning to think she is too talented over fences to stand around another five years waiting for my grandson to get old enough to really start riding, so she is for sale. $8,000

Lark

"Lark" (her registered name is still pending) is a buckskin yearling filly who is 3/4 Akhal-Teke and 1/4 Appaloosa. She is an endurance or sport-horse prospect. The Akhal-Teke breed, developed roughly in the area between Iraq and Afghanistan, was one of the progenitors of the modern Thoroughbred and is the only breed that can rival the Arabian in endurance. Besides endurance, they are known for having exceptionally fluid, smooth gaits and often, a metallic shine to their coats. Lark came to me not yet halter-broke, but has been learning quickly. She has a quiet nature. She is a sandy-gold buckskin with no white markings and should mature about 15-1. $2500

HPB Kadenzia (SOLD)

(2004 bay filly, by Aerodynamic out of H. Zsofia; breeder, Ellen Walker)

Kate is a deep-bodied, pretty filly with a gorgeous canter and a ton of personality and presence.  She should mature to a powerful 15-2 to 16 hands.  She is very people-oriented, and has been handled daily, trailered, clipped, ponied along rural roads and taken trail riding in the mountains with her mother.  SOLD.

Bally's Miracle (1987 Thoroughbred mare, by Ellen's Voyage, out of Bally Cor)

Bally's Miracle, who was with us from 2005-2008, was so named because she is the last foal of Tad Coffin's gold medal-winning Bally Cor ('76 Olympics, Three Day Event), born when Bally Cor was 23 years old after she had been barren for several years. Bally's Miracle (along with five other horses) came to me August 31st of 2005 from a strange rescue situation. She was very thin, and her hooves and teeth had been badly neglected. I spent two and a half years trying to get her bred, before I gave up and passed her along to someone else to try, since it seemed like a crime NOT to try and get a mare like that bred, and I was WAY over my budget.
